Prisons from Around the World

According to the Institute for Criminal Policy Research, there are over 10.35 million people in jails across the world. Since the year 2000, the total number of women serving time behind bars has increased by 50%, while the male prison population has grown by around 18%. However, prison population rates vary drastically all over the globe.
