15 Classic 1950s Rock 'n' Roll Songs
This week's music box takes you
back to one of the most exciting eras in popular music history. The
1950s saw rock 'n' roll grow and evolve, combining elements of blues,
rockabilly, gospel and boogie-woogie to create a genre that captured the
imagination of the young people of the time. Dance halls moved to the
sound of iconic artists like Chuck Berry, Buddy Holly and of course the
King himself Elvis Presley, who all created songs that crossed race
boundaries, informed youth culture and inspired a wave of dance crazes.
