Jukebox: Ray Charles
If you love blues and jazz, you have
to be familiar with Ray Charles, AKA “The Genius” (1930-2004). Charles
pioneered the soul music genre by combining R&B, gospel, and blues.
He was one of the first African-American musicians to enjoy artistic
control by their record company. His life story was depicted in the 2004
award-winning movie “Ray”. We mourn the great man’s loss and celebrate
the wonderful music he left behind to be enjoyed by all.
